Battery-powered tooling is really cutting edge!
A new range of battery-operated cable cutting and crimping tools has been introduced to the electrical contracting market by SWA.
The tools, supplied complete with cases, dies and chargers, are designed to be completely portable and ready for use anywhere. The 14.4 volt battery can be recharged in just 20 minutes, instantly enabling effortless cable cutting and crimping without the hard physical work needed when using hydraulic or ratchet tooling.
Efficient
The range includes crimping tools suitable for 10mm2 to 400mm2 cable, with a range of head sizes and jaw openings. In addition, there are tools to cut through cable up to 50mm diameter (armoured) or 85mm diameter (un-armoured). SWA also supply a choice of mains power converters, electric hydraulic pumps and spare batteries to complete the tool kit.
Since their launch to the UK market in January, the tools have generated huge interest among contractors and engineers. The automatic cutting or crimping action of the tools is seen as an efficient alternative to manually-powered tools, saving time and money on site and greatly reducing the risk of personal injury.
Savings
SWA’s Quality Manager, Adrian Eades, believes the tools are a worthwhile investment for any project manager. ‘They really cut down the amount of time spent on large-scale installations,’ says Adrian. ‘Added to the cost to employers of injuries and lost time resulting from doing the job by hand, the battery-operated tools represent a significant saving.’
SWA also offers a tool repair service which is registered to ISO 9001, and available for any brand of cable cutting or crimping tool.
